Meet
Lyle and Samantha
Lyle is Green and Samantha is Blue. We must be adopted together. We came to rescue when our owner passed away. We are pretty sweet and would love to find our forever home. We love our seed but are learning to like veggies. Our favorite is apple but have found that greens and mash are pretty good too. Our new family will have to be patient and introduce us to all kind of new fresh veggies and fruits. They are important to keeping us healthy.
We are very protective of our cage which is normal for our species so letting us get out on our own and fly to you is the best way to spend time with us. Our favorite activity is flying all around the room landing on our foster moms head and/or shoulders. Sometimes preening her hair and creating a new hair style is oh so much fun. We love to converse back and forth in our cute Quaker language. Getting love from our humans is great and being held getting scritches is a plus. But we are always together wherever we go.
EBR rarely gets Quakers into rescue we have heard so you better hurry to come see us. Our personalities will win you over.
Update from the foster home 08/04/21
These two are fun and low maintenance birds. They are bonded to each other even though not much is known about them. They enjoy playing with parrot-safe plastic chains and any toy that rattles.
They are very protective of our cage which is normal for their species so letting them get out on our own and fly to you is the best way to spend time with them. The only time they are really noisy is when changing their food, water, and cleaning their cage. Their outbursts of noise don’t usually last long and they don’t scream a lot. They bicker on occasion and “chat” in Quaker noises.
Their favorite activity is flying all around the room landing on their foster mom's head and/or shoulders. They also like to hang out on the couch with you and Lyle in particular is interested in what you are eating.
It's best to open their cage door and let them decide to come to you. Sometimes they don’t want to leave their cage, but they like the option. They are fully flighted and enjoy perching on top of open doors. BEWARE though, they should be kept away from ALL escape routes. They are bonded to each other and shouldn’t be separated. But because they are so bonded Sam and Lyle don’t need 100% of your attention all the time.
